Leaving on a Jet Plane
September 10th, 2012
The excitement draws near as my trip to Wisconsin comes in
just a matter of days. I am leaving on a jet plane, though I know when
I'll be back again. Just had to throw in some lyrics for my blog. Love
John Denver.
I am heading up to Janesville with my Dad. Yes, that is where Paul Ryan lives. I plan on hitting him up for an interview if I can catch him at his house or at least video of his house. (Really, I am) I'll You-Tube it. You may see me handcuffed or running, but hey, that's okay!
Anyway, the reason I am heading out is simple. I need a break. A break from all of you. Ha, just kidding! But really, just a break all together. I actually tried to get up to Wisconsin for my 25 year class reunion this summer but the plane tickets were running from $600-$800 bucks! I love my friends, but not that much. :)
The time was right when I realized I would never get a chance like this again because my hubby took the whole month of September off and airline tickets fell to $300. So I guess Dan gets to enjoy walking in my shoes for a week. That's if he can handle being home with four boys. (I'm already giggling). I just had a thought from way back when I had the flu. Dan lasted two days here at the house with all of the domestic duties but ended up calling his Mom to come take over so he could go to work. Talk about stressed!
Well Dan, there is no work to go to this time... Club is closed! (He He)
I am just rotten, aren't I? He never read my blogs anyway so I can tease him a little, right?
Madison, Wisconsin is where I was born and not too far up the road is Janesville. This is where both my parents were born. I have hundreds upon hundreds of family up there ranging from Aunt, Uncles, and too many cousins to count. Very old Aunts and Uncles really. My Aunt Madge, who I will be staying with is 82. She lost her husband, Uncle Marv, two years ago. She is aging quickly and feeling very lonely without Uncle Marv, so I thought it would be nice to bring her brother up too, my Dad, Woody, who is 78. Should be interesting.
I called all of my Aunts and Uncles this past week and commended them all for answering the phone. I realized they were all so damn old, they don't get out much. One has a bad hip, one is going in for surgery, the other has to move to a nursing home, and the lists goes on and on. It's really quite sad actually the more I think about it. It seems that one or two of my family members have been dying each year. A good time for me to go. Just being with them will enrich me in their lives once again as I hear all the stories about me, their little Nettie. Yeah, that's what I'm called in my family. (Shhhhh...don't tell anyone).
So Naples, enjoy your week without me, I am sure you won't even notice. I promise to bring you some interesting video back. It should be quite entertaining indeed.
To Dan, good luck! And boys, I Love You!
