A Child's Passion

July 2nd, 2013

For the past few weeks since school has let out, I have been home practically 24/7 with all of my boys. Since then, we have done all kinds of little excursions, have had many interesting moments, and of course, sprinkle a little boredom to that too.

Each one of my boys have their own little passions. My youngest especially. Recently he won a bag of flower seeds at our GGEACA Spring Fling. That bag of seeds turned out to be the highlight of his summer. After that night, he just couldn't wait to get home to plant them. And we did. Today, the blooms are beautiful and he is so proud. We call it "Matthew's Garden". If you really want to see some of his flowers, I will post some on my Facebook page as a public post.

Next up is my 10 year old, Benjamin. What a unique child. One of the most spot on, athletic, organized, and extremely wise child. He too has passions, but not so much the flowers, the trees, and the moon up above. More like racing his dirt bike around the yard, doing donuts to no end, and making endless jumps for himself. And that's all the time! He is something else. He loves it, so I let him have at it!

Then I have my newest teenager, Nickolas. Air soft guns are his passion lately and honestly, I don't like it. I absolutely hate guns. But what do you do as a Mom and all of his friends have these things and the constant air soft wars at their homes? You give in, right? And I did. For his recent birthday, he got the biggest, baddest air soft gun of all Naples! Boy is he proud!

Last but not least is my 16 year old, Daniel. My God, that boy lives for fishing. That's all he does! This past Spring he actually saved up and bought himself a boat. It's an old boat, probably older than me, but hey, it's his boat, and he can't get enough of it. The reels, the bait, the type of lines, the hooks, and the stories each time he goes, all endless. I think his focus on his future has to be on the water. Next year I plan to send him to Big Pine Key's Sea-Camp. And adventure sure to benefit him greatly.

Thank you boys for allowing me to be your Mom. God must have given me four boys for big reasons. I can't imagine my life any other way. I am the perfect fit for boys since I am right by their side on all of their passions. I really don't know what I would do if I had a girl. Then again, girls have their many passions too, and I would enjoy them just as much if one shows up at my doorstep.

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!
