Heart Break by Spencer Scholtz

May 24th, 2012

My nephew, Spencer Scholtz, age 14, and his classmates in the 8th grade at Cypress Palm Middle School were asked to write a poem called Heart Break.

Just to give you a little history, Spencer's little sister, Ivy Rose Scholtz, my niece, passed away from a pool drowning out here in The Estates, June 9th, 2006. Just two weeks after we moved here. She was 3.

Four years later, Spencer's oldest brother, Willi, my nephew, died from an accident on a scooter in Madison, Wisconsin on that very same day and time. He was 26.

Both stories were published by me a couple of years ago. The links to those two stories will be posted at the end of this blog.

My heart goes out to you Spencer after reading this today. It is a beautiful yet a very heartbreaking expression of your deepest thoughts. I barely made it through without crying.

Heart Break
Heart break is knowing that your little sister is not coming home.
It feels like you're in a different time zone.
Hoping that your brother is okay.
So he can go home and see another day.

Ivy was three years old, just starting to see everything.
Now she is up in the sky with a pair of Angel wings.
Trying to play video games with us so she could be cool.
Instead she slipped straight into a pool.

Willi was twenty six, beginning to have fun.
Now he is above the clouds dancing with the sun.
He was driving a motorcycle when he fell and hit his head.
Now he is in an urn at his final resting bed.

Heart break is the least to explain it.
Wishing them back everyday, its not working, dang it.
The pain I feel in unexplainable.
They tell me to forget, but that I am unable.

We celebrate their birthdays every year.
It's hard not to shed a tear.
They past away on the same date, same time, four years apart.
No matter how much we fought, their still in my heart.

One day I will be up there and we will unite.
All I have to do is follow the big white light.
We talk about you everyday.
Especially on your birthdays in June and May.

I love my sister and I love my brother.
I've never felt so bad for my Father and Mother.
Heart break sucks and no one should have to feel it.
It's a vicious circle of life and no one can defeat it.
