Floating Around in My Inner Tube

June 19th, 2011

Wow, I can't believe I actually have a chance to sit down and write something today. A special day for sure since it's both Fathers Day and my son's birthday all wrapped into one. And a Happy Fathers Day to you too!

We plan to celebrate Father's Day tomorrow as usual for my husband Dan. Since being a Chef, he has to take care of other fathers for the day. That's okay, we can focus on my father and my son's birthday and just have another reason to celebrate tomorrow!

Since the kids have been home for summer, getting even near this computer has really been difficult. I seriously need a computer fix everyday for my business and social networking. Without it, I get pretty grumpy. All I need is ten minutes, please! Okay, maybe a half hour. But I have been keeping busy with activities with the kids this summer, so I really can't complain.

There has been so much to write about with Arthrex(want them), the Commission(no comment), parking garages(?), referendums(need it), fire-stations(gotta have it), stock market(nerve-racking), Casey Anthony(she did it), and life in general (good). I just can't keep up to all my thoughts and I never get much time to write during the summer either. It's killing me!
So I would rather just take this moment and highlight on a silly story that happens to me every time we go to Sun and Fun Lagoon. Here goes:

Do you ever wonder where all of your lost and found stuff goes whether it be hairbands, earrings, pocket change, goggles, or bobby pins? Well, at this point, it falls right into the hands of the Kniola boys.

We can't even leave the house anymore without our goggles so the kids can be the first to search the lazy river for such glorious treasures. The other day, I had my two little ones with me floating down the river as I lay sunning myself feeling like a beached whale on a tube. At least that's what I feel like getting onto one of those things.

As we drift down the river, I occasionally hear shouts from out of the water, " I found a penny! I found a quarter! Look at this earring! Another one!" It is all to find that one dollar worth of coins so they can go buy Scooby Doo gummys at the snack machine. How cute is that.

I have now gotten to the point where I make a request as to find some hairbands because I keep running low. This past week, we found 14 hairbands, two bobby pins, one set of goggles(which we turned in), one dangly diamond studded earring (fake), and $1.57. What a great hunt that turned out to be I would have to say! And I don't have to worry about hairbands for awhile either.
And Parks and Rec should thank my for scouring there pool once a week and keeping it clear of all those special debris. But then again, we thank you for paying for our Scooby Doo snacks too!

Happy Fathers Day everyone!
