Destiny's Delights!

November 3rd, 2011

As I sing this in my head, "I made it through the rain and found Naples unprotected, by the others who, go rained on too and made through!"

Well, something like that Barry Manilow sings as I describe my latest adventure on my cruise and the Naples life that was hammered by pouring rain. I had no idea Naples was getting so drenched as I sipped margarita's by the ships poolside.

I went on a 5 day Carnivals Destiny cruise last week with 13 other ladies, or maybe I was the 13, can't remember. Anyway, I was a bit nervous to leave because of Hurricane Rina that was brewing in the south. Unfortunately she took away my "Amazing Race" excursion in Cozumel due to the ships new destination of Nassau. I guess I was okay with it since I had never been to Nassau.

The Keys were actually our first stop on our itinerary. The only reason I got off the boat there was the interest of Fantasy Fest. I was curious to see if there were actually naked people walking around town. Sure enough, there was. Not in full swing(he-he), but topless painted tattoos for sure. You should have seen mine!

My sister Mary couldn't resist but to have her picture taken with a man with see through yellow spandex as he proudly showed off his delight walking around black platform boots. Eeeeeewww!
Delia, Michelle, and I were grateful to have our first morning cocktail at a bar that featured Elvis!

Elvis was live and in full dress as he sang around our table at 10 in the morning as we sipped our morning delight. That was a first for me, though I certainly wasn't the only one that had a drink in their hand either. If I would have continued, I would have passed out by noon!

The next stop was Nassau. Mary, Linda and I planned to rent scooters in Nassau for the full day. We especially wanted to go to Anna Nicole's grave just because, sight see Atlantis, then off to the nude beach for a drink and some giggles.

That whole idea with four big cruise ships that had no where else to go and too many tourists went out to sea. They ran out of scooters before we even got there. We took some pictures of Atlantis and just headed back to the ship to lounge for the rest of the day. I was totally bummed out about that so we tried one more time in the afternoon since we were not leaving until 10pm, but again, to no avail. This time the company tried to rip us off and we decided it was not meant to be. So we shopped a bit and headed back once again. Long Day.

Back on the ship, the overall the experience was fun with the ladies I knew and the ones I had just met. The only time we really experience being together was for dinner at night, which left me with one night of raw turkey and illness the next day. That was too bad, but Carnival was kind enough to send me chocolate covered strawberries.

My friend Linda won $2,000 bucks in the casino as I was down $50. Some of the others did good and bad, but nothing compared to Linda's!

We got home Halloween morning, I was still unable to eat but managed to make it home and felt fine by then. Hey,it was my birthday and you cant' be sick on your birthday, let alone to trick or treat!

The houses all around seemed drenched from "The longest storm ever", as the kids described it. They said it was the best weather for muddin' with their dirt-bikes, and so they did, along with a big rope and wake board too.

Glad to be home now, feeling great! Have a great story ahead of me, need to start working on that now!

All the best!
