Our Future and Orange Tree PUD
December 16th, 2011
I could not think about all the despair driving through the
town of Immokalee today as I was heading out for my son's 3rd grade
field trip to C.R.E.W. Even a teacher quoted, "It looks like a third
world country here."
What a shame the master plan did not pass after so much time and energy spent planning over the years. What a shame we cannot put aside personal differences to create a better future for our communities. What a shame we have to go back and try to work out issues that could have been worked out after it passed. What a shame.
With the failure to pass the master plan of Immokalee, does the outlook for the Orange Tree PUD that is coming before the Commission in January look bleak too? Will our county be a consistent 3-2 vote from here on out getting absolutely nowhere on big and special projects?
The majority of The Estates residents are certainly for the Orange Tree PUD to pass, just like the families of Immokalee had expressed for their future. I may not live in Orange Tree but everyone here in The Estates will be affected. We all want a future, we all want progress, and we all need to move forward.
I can't imagine another failed plan for us in this eastern half of Collier County. How will this look to our county? We need leadership, we need a future, and we need to start now. Growth is our future and in order to have growth, we need the Orange Tree PUD to pass. If we continue this point of being stagnant, there is no hope for progress.
So I would like to alert everyone on behalf of getting Orange Tree PUD passed. Whether you take in into consideration of emailing all Commissioners for your support or sign and deliver a petition circulating the Estates right now. One way or another, we need to stand up just like the Immokalee people did. Whether a super-majority is needed or not, the commission should be prepared that day to establish our future.
If you are interested in emails for getting Orange Tree PUD passed, please take five minutes and send off a letter to all Commissioners. They do read them.

If you would rather sign and send back this petition, here is the link for you to download and email back. Send it to annettekniola@aol.com. It's off Google Docs, so just download, make your changes, and send back to me. I will then collect as many as I can and send them to the Commission.
