The Estates" Needs to Get Organized!
November 18th, 2010
I was at Max Hasse Park the other night and could not stop but to overhear a parent speaking to the concession stand guy about his son's practices for the Minor B baseball team. I talked to him a bit and offered to write how he felt here on my blog to maybe help move things along out here in "The Estates" for the future. As you all know, I am trying my darnedest to get a park built out here in "The Estates" so we can have more room to play.
This is what Gregg Traver wrote down for his concerns:
To GGALL (Golden Gate Estates American Little League),
I am a parent of a child in the league. I was a coach of the Twins of Minor B. I would like to see the league be more organized with practices, fields with lights, and an organized league of games.
I think you should look at being more fair to the children and the parents. Lee has a team in Minor A and I'm sure he has a practice field with lights on. Marco's team does not.
The teams were divided up unfairly but Marco is still determined to be the best coach and do his best for his team. It's unfair that the kids don't have a field to practice with lights. Maybe dues will help if the league is fair.

So there you have it, one more good reason as to pray the Master Plan for "The Estates" comes through so our area can have a regional park to accommodate all of these kids and to have enough fields to practice on "with lights." No dues please.
I feel for this guy because last Tuesday, my son's practice at Sabal Palm Elementary lasted less than a hour because the lights were not on for them to play. Sometimes I wonder how this all works with the fields, the lights, the schedules. I keep picturing in my head this big master switch the size of a door at North Collier Regional Park that is turned on by a big guy every night for each field requested. Silly, I know.
This year has been tough for the board of GGALL because they are all new and probably tweaking what they can. But in respect to Mr. Travers concerns, I hope this letter helps get everyone a bit more organized when it comes to fields, practices, and games.
I am also hoping someone at Parks and Rec can get the Cypress Palm Middle School field up and running before the next spring baseball season arrives. It's a field that needs some work with lights to be fixed and good maintenance. I do not understand why this cannot be done? I feel I have bled out my mind enough over this, why is this such a big deal? Let's work with the middle school maintenance along with Parks and Rec and get it done! It's not fair the Juniors have only one field to play on and having to play games on school nights up until 10m pm. That's ridiculous!
It truly does seem that we are always left in the dark when it comes to "The Estates." So let's get organized!
P.S. As you read, the community was polled and we are dropping the Golden Gate and sticking with "The Estates" from here on out. I hope you can too!
So the GGALL, will be TEALL or EALL?
