Solemn Night
December 16th, 2010
An evening of love, and evening of joy, and evening of
sorrow. The presence of all those feelings swept over each and every
one of us last night a the 2010 Candle Light Service for all children
that have passed. It was held at the St. John the Evangelist Church in
Naples Park.
Did you know every second Sunday in December at 7pm, services are held world wide for those children that have died? Creating as they described a wave of light across the globe. Very beautiful as my thoughts of the earth's glow takes over my mind.
The night started out busy with everyone coming in with their potluck dishes and donated gifts for under the tree for the Immokolee children. I myself brought lasagna and a memory game for a child. I also brought my Heaven Cent coin albums which many seemed to enjoy. One family that just flew down for the holidays the night before told me they just found two pennies at the airport and they were from their son who just passed in September. These are moments I enjoy as I see people do collect those very special pennies and their stories to go along with it. Some very fascinating. We chatted some more but I could see the pain in this family as it was so new. They laughed and cried but you could tell they were glad to be there.
By the time dinner had been served, I would say over 200 people showed up for the ceremony that began at 7pm. It was hard listening to all the names of the children, young and old, called out along with their picture brought up on the slide-show, one by one. Some families had multiple children that have passed making it that much harder on everyone. It was solemn, it was sweet, it was sad.
My sister Mary and her husband John were their to honor their children Ivy Rose and Willi. Also attending was their two other children, Spencer, Sam and my Mom. As you remember my past stories; Ivy died June 9th, 2006 and Willi this year on the same date. I also had my friend Susie Phillips honored.
By the time the end came, many tears has fallen, many families held their loved ones a little closer. Then they brought out balloons for each guest who came. Silver for the parents, red for the siblings, and gold for friends. All of us at our table had our share of colors as we wrote everything and anything we wanted to those in Heaven.
Anne Arbelaez who handled the whole affair and a character as she was, then dismissed everyone around 8:15 to go outside to release their balloons and pick up their child's ornament and luminary honored in their name. A perfect ending.
To all of my family and friends who have passed, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I truly wish you were here.
