My Blog to End on NDN

That’s right, my Naples Daily News Blog will be history. Which totally stinks unless you are a employee of NDN. So I wonder if they will hire me?

I do find this all a total bummer. It was a great 8 year run for me and not having NDN as my backbone will be tough. Either way, I do not have a choice. But this new blogging platform they speak of, who will be the bloggers? Very curious.

Thankfully since a couple of years ago, I have tried my best to transfer most blogs to Blogger. This will be my new site for all of you to bookmark on your computer if you wish to find me. I will continue to post my links on My Thoughts Exactly Facebook page and also on LinkedIn. Nice thing too, if you have a Google account, you can comment.Yay!

This is the recent letter we received just to give you the gist of it.

Hi everyone,
The Naples Daily News was recently acquired by a company called Gannett. It’s an exciting time for us as we get to join the USA Today Network and share our journalism with 107 markets around the country.

Part of Gannett also means a change in our website and blogging infrastructure. We will undergo a website overhaul during the summer. With the overhaul, our current blogging technology (WordPress) will be eliminated. Unfortunately, our new blogging technology doesn’t allow access to non-employees. That means you will no longer have a blog on naplesnews.com once we are in the new technology.

You may blog until mid-July. However, if you wish to save your blog entries, I recommend doing so by July 1. If you are still interesting in blogging, I recommend transitioning to https://www.blogger.com/. They are owned by Google and allow easy blog set-up and posting. Their help page should be pretty thorough and can assist you if you are having trouble transitioning.

I wish to thank you for being a loyal blogger on naplesnews.com and for contributing to the conversation on our digital platforms. It has been a pleasure working with all of you.

Turkey Turds and Rainwater

November 16th, 2011 Looks as though the Kniolas are preparing for a holiday Thanksgiving, filled with plenty of turkey turds and rainwater! Yes, it's true, we now own two adorable, yet really ugly turkeys. I specifically rounded them up for my husbands birthday since it was coming up soon. I figured since they were only three months old, they would be small enough to hide until his actually birthday. Well, I was wrong! When I arrived to pick them up with my two youngest, I just about fell over dead. They already stood two feet tall! My mind swirled around in shock over their sizes as I wondered how was I going to fit them in this little box filled with hay? How was I going to drive them in my van if they flew around crashing into windows? I knew I was in for an interesting ride home. The boys helped me pick out just the right two as a flock of 12 to 14 other adult turkeys gobble, gobble, and gobbled some more as they followed their owners every move.

Humble Beginnings

Raising four boys in this lifetime has not come easy. Now that I'm down to my last son in the home, I find myself trying harder than I ever, as to humble one's thoughts. His thoughts. Our young generation is struggling. Trying to keep up in today's world is just too much for these fragile young minds to handle. Heck, I'm 53 and I find it a struggle myself. Life is a different ball game in these trying years, but most important, we should tackle them hands on, the best we can.   What is humbling beginnings to me?  Well, if you look into our younger generation now, it's obvious it's all about them. They have no filters, they find themselves so caught up in one's self, they tend to lose value as to who they really are and to those who surround them. (If that makes any sense). I am here to humble those who get a little ahead of themselves, and I find I am doing that more and more with my youngest, Matthew.  Even his brothers are doing the best they can to guide
